Marmara Adası, Türkiye’nin saklı cennetlerinden biridir. Marmara denizinin en büyük adası olan bu saklı cennet adını ‘’mermer’’ kelimesinden almıştır. Antik çağlardan itibaren mermer çıkarılmakta ve beldenin her yerinde mermer heykeller bulunmaktadır. Bu yüzden ‘’mermer adası’’ olarak da anılır. Günümüzde Ayasofya’da bulunan mermerlerin birçoğu Marmara Adasından gelmiştir. Marmara Adası Tarihi olarak, adaya ilk ayak basan kişiler Miletos halkı olmuştur. Daha sonra Romalılar dönemindeada, Hristiyanların sürgün yeri haline gelmiş ve 15. yüzyılda ada Osmanlı tarafından fethedilmiştir.

Marmara Adası coğrafi özellikleri bakımından değerlendirilecek olursa kuzeyi ve güneyi tepelik, orta kesimleri ise dağlık bir alandır. Denizden yüksekliği 709.65 m. ve yüzölçümü 117 km2dir. Akarsu bulunmamaktadır. Marmara Adası büyüklüğü tartışılamaz çünkü Marmara’nın en büyük adasıdır. İçerisinde bir sürü yerleşke ve köy barındırır. İklim olarak çoğu zaman Akdeniz iklimi olsa da kimi zaman Karadeniz iklimi de görülür. Kar nadir olarak görülür. Genellikle sıcak ve kuru bir havaya sahiptir. Marmara Adasında birçok kızılçam ağacı yer almaktadır. Bunun dışında zeytin ağaçları da sıklıkla bulunmaktadır.
Marmara Adası Nüfusu
Marmara Adası kışları ve yazları bambaşkadır. Kışları sakin ve bomboşken yazları ise tam tersi gürültülü ve kalabalıktır. Bunun dışında sürekli burada yaşayan halk tabii ki vardır. Marmara Adası nüfusu 2020 yılına göre toplam 9.973 kişidir. Bunlardan 5.326sını erkek ve 4.647sini de kadınlar oluşturmaktadır. Eski yıllara bakıldığında nüfus olarak bir artış söz konusudur çünkü tatil yeri olarak gelip sonradan beğenip Marmara Adasına yerleşen insan sayısı oldukça fazladır.
Marmara Adası Görülmesi Gereken Yerler
Marmara Adası nereye bağlı sorusu sıkça sorulan sorulardan biridir. Ada, Balıkesir’e bağlıdır. Marmara denizindeki en büyük ada olması dışında Gökçeada’dan sonra da Türkiye’nin en büyük ikinci adasıdır. Marmara Adasında görülmesi gereken birden fazla güzellikler mevcuttur. Marmara Adası gezilecek yerler köyleridir.
Bunlar;
Asmalı Köyü: Marmara Adasının en doğusunda bulunur. Denizin ve doğanın keyfini doyasıya çıkarmak için ideal bir yerdir. Özellikle ev pansiyonculuğu düşünenler için tercih edilmesi gereken bir köydür. Adanın merkezine olan mesafesi ise sadece 18 km’dir.
- Gündoğdu Köyü: Marmara Adasının en güneyinde bulunur. Diğer köylere göre konaklama ve turizm açısından daha çok tercih edilir. Merkeze ise sadece 5 km uzaklıktadır.
- Çınarlı Köyü: Balıkçı köyü olarak da bilinir. Uzun bir plajı mevcuttur. Denizi berrak ve sığdır. Plajın etrafında ise birçok ağaç bulunur. Bu köyde ise birçok otel, apart, pansiyon ve ev mevcuttur.
- Manastır Koyu: Marmara Adasının en güzel ve temiz plajı burada bulunmaktadır. Plajdaki kumlarıyla kendinden söz ettirir. İnce ve altın gibi kumu vardır. Genelde en çok tercih edilen plajdır.
- Saraylar Köyü: Marmara Adasının mermer ocakları bu köyde bulunur. Osmanlıda kullanılan birçok mermer buradan çıkmıştır. Mermerlerin nemi emme özelliği olduğundan adadaki rutubet durumu da bu sayede yok olur. Bu köye plajdan ziyade açık hava müzesini görmek için gidilir.
- Topağaç Köyü: Marmara Adasının sebze ihtiyaçları bu köyden karşılanır. Taze balık yemek isteyenler bu köye akın etmektedirler. Ayrıca mangal yakmak isteyenler içinde alanlar mevcut. Plajı ise dinlenmelik, sakin bir plaj ve denizi de çarşaf gibi.
Denize Girilecek Yerler
Marmara Adası deniz konusunda oldukça şanslıdır. Her plajı birbirinden temiz ve durgundur. Plajların çoğu da merkeze çok yakındır.
- Aba Plajı: Bu plaj taşlık ve dar bir plaja sahiptir. Merkezde bulunur. Sakin bir denize sahiptir.
- Manastır Koyu: Bu plaj ise kumlu bir plaja sahiptir. Kumu ince ve altın gibidir. Çınarlı Köyü’nün başında bulunur.
- Şifalı Su Plajı: Bu plajdaki suyun cilt ve göz rahatsızlıklarına iyi geldiğine inanılır.
- Çınarlı Plajı: Bu plaj en kalabalık olan plajlardan biridir o yüzden boş yer bulmak genelde imkânsız olur. Merkeze yaklaşık 5 km uzaklıktadır.
- Gündoğdu Plajı: Bu plaj korumalı ve sakin bir plajdır. Merkeze yakın olduğu için en bilinen plajlar arasında yer alır.
- Kole Plajı: Bu plaj da en hareketli plajlardan biridir. Denizi dalgasız ve temizdir. Kumu ise taşlıdır.
- Keresya Plajı: Bu plaj Kole Plajına benzer lakin Kole plajına göre daha sakindir.
Marmara Adasında Konaklama
Ada tam olarak turistik bir bölge olmadığından Marmara Adası konaklama denildiğinde çok fazla seçenek bulmak mümkün değildir. Lakin yine de müdavimi olmuş kişiler oldukça fazladır. 100’ ü geçmeyen oteller ve pansiyonlar bulunmaktadır. Bunların birçoğu merkezde diğer kalanları ise köy içinde ufak tipli pansiyonlar veya günlük, haftalık evlerdir. Her şey dahil büyük bir otel bulunmamaktadır.
Marmara Adası pansiyon tipleri yarım ve tam pansiyon olarak bulunmaktadır. Tam pansiyonlar sabah, öğlen ve akşam yemek hizmeti verirken yarım pansiyonlar ise sadece kahvaltı hizmeti sağlamaktadır. Hatta bazı tam pansiyonlar ara öğün ve alkol hizmeti de vermektedirler. Her kesime ve bütçeye uygun pansiyonlar yer almaktadır. Kimi pansiyon merkezin tam ortasında denize sıfırken, kimi pansiyon ise merkeze birkaç km uzak olan köylerin içindedir.
Marmara Adasında Eğlence
Marmara Adası eğlence ve aktivite yönünden de oldukça zengin imkânlara sahiptir. Bunlar;
- Yelken: Rüzgar koşullarının gayet uygun olmasından dolayı bu aktivite oldukça tercih edilen aktiviteler arasında yer alır.
- Günbatımı: Marmara Adasına gelip günbatımını görmeden dönmek mümkün değildir. Aba konumu günbatımını seyretmek için harika bir noktadır.
- Olta Balıkçılığı: Marmara Adasına gelen insanların gözdesi olan olta balıkçılığı iskelelerde rahatlıkla yapılabilir. Bunun dışında Kayıklı Ada bölgesi de bu aktivite için oldukça uygun bir konumdur.
- Dağ Bisikleti: Marmara Adasında birden çok engebeli yollar ve patikalar bulunmakta ve tam olarak dağ bisikleti yapmak için adeta bir fırsattır.
- Kano: Hemen hemen her plajda bulunurken, özellikle Kano plajında yapılması ayrı bir zevklidir. İster iki kişilik ister tek kişilik kiralama imkânları mevcuttur.
- Yürüyüş: Aslında yürüyüş her zaman her yerde yapılması gereken sağlık için önemli bir spordur. Ada da bu yönden oldukça uygun yürüyüş alanlarına sahiptir. Güzel parkurları mevcuttur. Viran köy ve çevresi, İlyas Dağı ve çevresi Tahtırevana mıntıkaları adeta yürüyüş yapmak için yapılmış yerlerdir.
Marmara Adası Yemek
Adanın kendisiyle özdeşleşmiş meşhur bir yemeği yoktur. Lakin balıkçılık konusunda ün salmış bir yer olduğu için burada çok lezzetli balıklar mevcuttur. Çeşit olarak kolyoz ve uskumru balıklarından yapılan ister ızgara ister kömürde yapılan Unez ve uskumru, kolyoz balıklarının karaciğerinden yapılan ve meze olarak satılan Garoz tadılması gereken tatlardandır. Yanında bir de adaya özel şarap eşliğinde tüketilmesi daha da güzel bir tat verecektir. Onun dışında peynir helvası ve peynir patlıcan oldukça tercih edilir.
Marmara Adasına Ulaşım
Marmara Adası ulaşım olarak oldukça kolay bir konuma sahiptir. Marmara adasına feribotla ulaşım sağlanmaktadır. Feribotlar Tekirdağ, İstanbul, Erdek ve Silivri’den kalkmaktadır. Ulaşım süreleri ise şu şekildedir;
- Tekirdağ-Marmara Adası Ulaşım Süresi: 1 saat 5 dakika
- İstanbul (Avcılar) – Marmara Adası Ulaşım Süresi: 2 saat 20 dakika
- İstanbul (Yenikapı)- Marmara Adası Ulaşım Süresi: 3 saat 5 Dakika
- Erdek- Marmara Adası Ulaşım Süresi: 3 saat 54 dakika sürmektedir.
